A DAY AT THE BROAD MUSEUM, DOWNTOWN LA

Last week I ventured out to the Broad Museum in Downtown Los Angeles. I love and appreciate art but I have major ADD and museums usually don’t hold my attention for very long, but the Broad Museum was an exception. The art was super dope and quirky, and I enjoyed reading about the inspirations and powerful meanings behind some of the pieces. If you decide to go, make sure to go into the Infinity Mirrored Room by Yayoi Kusama. That was my highlight. After the museum I went to the Grand Central Market just a few minutes away for lunch. I highly recommend it- it has a wide variety of different vendors with amazing food. It was a day well spent in LA.

INTERVIEW WITH EXECUTIVE CHEF/OWNER OF BESTIA

Located in an industrial warehouse in LA’s downtown Art District, I was intrigued pulling up to Bestia for the first time. It was not quite what I expected. But once I entered the restaurant, everything came to life and it all made sense. Packed and buzzing with fast-paced servers and cooks in an open faced kitchen, the restaurant felt alive in a way that most Los Angeles restaurants do not anymore. With brick walls, unfinished ceilings, and rustic decor, Bestia has a raw, urban aesthetic that is unlike any other restaurants in the city. Whether you choose to sit at the bar, in the middle of the restaurant (where you can watch dishes fly out of the kitchen), or in front of the wood-burning ovens at the pizza counter, you’re in for an exciting dining experience. I’ve been to Bestia a few times now and it never disappoints. Ori Menashe and his wife, Genevieve Gergis, are the duo behind the restaurant. Menashe is the owner and executive chef, offering rustic Italian dining with an eccentric …

PLAN CHECK KITCHEN + BAR, LOS ANGELES

Amazing burger alert! I’ve been to Plan Check Bar on Fairfax a couple times now, and I keep going back for their burgers. The “Chef’s Favorite Burger” in particular. The first time I went to Plan Check, I tried the “PCB” (Plan Check Burger) and was blown away by how good it was. The second time I tried the “Chef’s Favorite Burger”, and I decided I liked that one even better. These burgers are extremely rich- they are saucy and sloppy but if you’re in the mood for it and hungry, it’s extremely satisfying and delicious. I recommend trying both. I loved the crunch bun on the “PCB”, but I loved the cheese, bacon and hot sauce on the “Chef’s Favorite”- and it also has a fried egg! One thing that was unique about both these burgers is the “ketchup leather”. Instead of traditional ketchup, it’s in a texture of a fruit roll up. I was skeptical when I saw it on the menu because you know I love my sauce, but it worked perfect with …

HACHE LA

You know I love a good burger. I was invited to Hache LA in Silverlake to make my own burger in their kitchen! I did everything from grind the meat, make the patty, grill and garnish the burger. I even got to make my own fresh strawberry basil lemonade and homemade custards! I had so much fun. They use steak meat from a sirloin cut and you can see them grinding the steak meat as  your order.  At Hache LA, they make all their sauces from scratch as well as their custards and specialty drinks. You can taste the quality, and everything is delicious. It is a great burger so for all you burger lovers out there, make a stop at Hache LA and tell me what you think! I personally recommend the “Karma Burger”. The special Karma sauce is addicting! Enjoy!!!

EGGSLUT | DOWNTOWN LA

I’ve been dying to try this place for so long! I had seen mouth watering pictures on Instagram of these amazing looking breakfast burgers for awhile and finally made it there last week. It’s located inside the Grand Central Market in Downtown LA. The line looked long, but it only took about 15-20 minutes. My favorite food is a good burger or sandwich, and the sloppier and saucier the better. So seeing pictures of the Eggslut sandwiches on Instagram was love at first sight. I ordered the “Fairfax” and added bacon and avocado. It was delicious, and I will be back for more.

2015 SAG AWARDS RED CARPET

Hey everyone! Wanted to share my favorite looks from the SAG Awards last night. I was kind of underwhelmed by the carpet- there was no one that really “WOW’ED” me. Everyone played it safe and looked nice, but nothing was exciting. I liked Julianne Moore’s emerald gown. I love emerald green on a red head lol- it looked exquisite on her. The beading in person looked so rich and beautiful, pictures didn’t do it justice. I also thought Emma Stone nailed it, which she always does. I absolutely love the menswear look on a woman. She is so fashion forward and kills it every time. Felicity Jones, (who happens to be my obsession right now), wore a soft pink Balenciaga gown and looked stunning. What are your thoughts on the SAG looks? Do you agree with my favorites?

BESTIA | DTLA

I finally had the chance to eat at Bestia in Downtown LA. I’ve heard so much about this place from other foodies and seen a lot of write ups about it online, so I was really excited to finally have dinner there the other night. Everything was good, but one thing we ordered was exceptional. If you go to Bestia, you must try the Roasted Bone Marrow. It is served on top of Spinach gnocchetti, crispy breadcrumbs with aged balsamic. You scoop the marrow off the bone and mix it into the Spinach gnocchetti and it’s just off the charts…the flavor and texture together make the perfect dish . The flavor in each dish really takes this place to the next level. You could really distinguish all the different ingredients and spices everything we ordered. The menu is very unique and the presentations are innovative and creative as well. I have to head back to try their different pizzas, I heard they’re amazing. Other things we ordered: Burrata Salad, Mussels & Clams (spicy!), Cavatelli alla Norcina, Spaghetti Rustichella & the coffee & donuts for dessert.

ADJUSTING IN LA

When I am not traveling, I make the best out of my time spent in LA. I eat and venture out to new restaurants on my food #bucketklist, I explore different areas of the city and find new , fun activities to do, but I also try and take care of myself and get back to a proper and healthy lifestyle. Traveling can be tiring. I also tend to gain a few pounds when I travel because I don’t want to deprive myself of an experience in trying something new- I want to get the most out of everywhere I go. Flying on airplanes all the time is really hard on my body, and I’ve been flying a lot lately. Once in a while I like to get massages and visit a chiropractor to get adjusted when I get back to LA just to reset my body. The other day I visited Atlas Health Care Center to get my body  adjusted because I felt a little stiff. I was a little nervous at first getting my neck …
