ZORBA & MAHAYANA BEACH HOMES IN TULUM

Back to Tulum exactly a year later! I was in Tulum January of 2019 & 2020, and I kept my exact itinerary and stayed at the same places both times. I split my time between sister properties Zorba & Mahayana Beach Homes in the heart of Tulum. They are luxury villas right on the beach  in the center of the main strip in Tulum, yet it still feels quiet and remote. There’s only a few homes at both Zorba and Mahayana which makes it feel way more private and intimate than most of the “trendy” boutique hotels in Tulum with tons of rooms. I usually stay 2-3 nights at each place- this trip I started off at Zorba for 2 nights, then moved to Mahayana for 2 nights. I wrote about my past experience at both properties in my Tulum Guide blog post- you can see more info & pictures from my first stay  HERE There are different category villas that range between 2-4 bedrooms at both properties. One thing to keep in mind if you book-these are …

MY TULUM GUIDE

Just got back from Tulum, and already getting so many questions on recommendations on what to do there, where to go and obviously where to eat 🙂 Thought I’d share my favorite spots with you guys. I highly suggest renting a car when arriving in Cancun. You can rent a car for super cheap, and it gives you the flexibility and freedom to do whatever you want on your own time and not have to rely on finding taxi’s everywhere you go. Tulum is a 1.5 hour drive from the Cancun airport and it’s a straight shot on the highway basically. It’s an easy drive. Tip: Check to see if your credit card provides rental car insurance benefits. You can decline their insurance and use your CC’s- I would print a copy of the insurance terms your CC offers and give to them in a hard copy form. Good way to save money, and most of the time you can get crazy cheap deals at any rental car company at the Cancun airport. THE REAL …

VICEROY, RIVIERA MAYA

A 45 minute drive from Cancun, at the end of a few hidden roads, lies the Viceroy Riviera Maya—a beautiful lush sanctuary in paradise. The resort has an open-air lobby and their beautiful villas are surrounded by the lush jungle of the Riviera Maya. Just a moments walk away from the beach, The Viceroy property gives you the best of both worlds. The resort is set on the beautiful sand beaches of Playa Del Carmen. The poolside beach bar is where I spent most of my day soaking up the sun with a pina colada in hand. The resort is located just a quick 10-15 minute drive from the heart of Playa Del Carmen, but I felt no need to leave the property throughout my stay. The food at the Viceroy was excellent. Every morning I enjoyed fresh fruit juices and an authentic Mexican breakfast—the huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, and carne asada were amazing. For dinner I indulged in mojacuete, tacos and fresh guacamole. I kept lunch light with appetizers like seafood ceviche, shrimp quesadillas and …
