NEW YORK, NEW YORK

Whenever I go on a long trip, I usually start off in New York to break up the flight time. I spend a few days there, get a few meetings and work in, visit my sister who lives there, and then head somewhere from the East Coast. This was the trip before I headed to Italy, Greece and Croatia in August. I stayed at The Time Hotel in Manhattan for a few days, and headed to Italy from there. I ate at a really bomb place in Brooklyn called Emily which is known for their burger and pizzas. I will do a separate blog post on it ūüôā I also visited Top of the Rock at Rockefeller Center for an amazing view of Manhattan. ($32 general admission to go to the top) I am going on another long trip in a few weeks to Europe, and will  be back in NYC again- I love it there. Below are a few pictures from my trip in August. 2013 VENDY AWARDS- BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

Lobster grilled cheese, Philly cheese steak, pizza, pulled pork sandwiches, empanadas, tacos, dumplings, curry, fried anchovies………..it didn’t stop! My sister and I attended the Vendy Awards in Brooklyn a couple weeks ago-also known as “the Oscars of street food”. The Vendy Awards is a food truck competition that identifies and celebrates NYC’s best street food vendors, fundraising to support the nonprofit organization, Street Vendor Project of the Urban Justice Center. I had a press pass and got to try all the best voted food trucks in New York City. Let’s just say I couldn’t move afterwards. I wish I had a bigger stomach to try everything but I only could fit so much in there lol. A little overwhelming for someone like me who wanted to try everything, but there was just too much. Not going to go into detail in this post about all the amazing food, I just more want to let everyone know about this awesome event. I was in food blogger heaven! Please note: I labeled each food truck with the …

LUCALI- BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Lucali, located in Brooklyn, New York could be one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I think I might have to declare that they have the best pizza I’ve ever had. This place & Di Fara Pizza in Brooklyn are my two favorite pizzerias in the world. This is real New York pizza, the ingredients are the freshest, and the flavors are incredible. No need for ranch dressing with this pizza lol, it’s that good. Lucali is what I’d like to call a gem spot. Tiny, cozy, romantic, charming…yet still casual. The restaurant is small but always busy. They make he pizza right there out in the open so you can watch it being made. Also, shhhh don’t tell lol, but I heard Beyonce & Jay-Z eat there every week. They are my idols so I got really excited when I heard that ūüôā ¬†ARTICHOKE & GARLIC PIZZA I died and went to pizza heaven. The flavor of this pizza was incredible. The smell of garlic and fresh basil immediately …

PETER LUGER STEAKHOUSE- BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

¬†¬†¬†¬† Voted #1 Steakhouse in New York for 28 years straight, Peter Luger’s has been on the top of my food bucket list since forever ago lol. Anyone that has ever been to Peter Luger’s has said it’s the best steak they’ve ever had hands down, and no other steakhouse in the country¬†compares. Peter Luger Steakhouse was established in 1887 in Brooklyn NY, so it’s definitely a New York landmark in my opinion. It has been said that Peter Luger’s gets their first pick of the beef that is imported into New York over any other steakhouse, so their cuts are the best. Everything there is simple steakhouse food, and all of it is unbelievable. This was definitely one of the best meals of my lifetime. It was such an amazing foodie experience for me… BREAD TO START WITH THEIR FAMOUS PETER LUGER SAUCE Assortment of fresh bread with butter, dipped in their signature Peter Luger sauce, so good! JUMBO SHRIMP COCKTAIL SLICED TOMATOES & ONIONS WITH LUGER’S OWN SAUCE This is my new favorite …

GRIMALDI’S PIZZERIA- BROOKLYN, NEW YORK

¬†¬† ¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† I’ve heard around that Grimaldi’s is the best pizza in New York. I’ve seen it on TV and have heard about the place through word of mouth, so I ventured out to the one under the Brooklyn Bridge (which is the most famous one), to try for myself. Grimaldi’s is one of the few pizzerias that still make their pizzas with a coal-fired oven which gives pizza a unique flavor (most pizzerias use wood or gas ovens). Grimaldi’s is on the Brooklyn side of the bridge, and my friend and I ran the bridge from the Manhattan side (which I highly recommend doing by the way, it’s so beautiful!). So I exercised only to stuff my fat face with pizza. Typical me… story of my life lol.   RUNNING THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE ¬† ¬†A PIC I TOOK FROM STATEN ISLAND FERRY THAT DAY! MAKING PIZZAS AT GRIMALDI’S! LARGE PIZZA WITH GARLIC, BASIL, PEPPERONI & BLACK OLIVES ¬† The pizza was good. It reminded me of the pizza at the famous Lombardi’s pizzeria in …
